Because of a copy editor's error, a headline on the cover of Friday's New River Current did not properly reflect Montgomery County School Superintendent Herman Bartlett Jr.'s position on a proposed consolidation of county and school system finance departments. Bartlett says the School Board should approach talks with the Board of Supervisors about consolidation cautiously, making sure it will save money and be more efficient than the way things are done now.
Because of incorrect information given to the newspaper, several facts were incorrect in a picture caption concerning a trailer fire in Shawsville that appeared in Thursday's New River Current: The name of Robert Hickson Sr. was not identified correctly. Also, the caption incorrectly reported that the trailer was not occupied. Hickson, his wife and two children still were living in the trailer, and most of their belongings were destroyed by the fire.
