The bride is the daughter of Rev. and Mrs. Jacob Dillard of Eden, N. C., and the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. George White of Lynchburg and the late Mrs. Mary Dillard of Eden, N. C.
The groom is the son of Mr. Sidney E. Crumwell, Sr., of Long Branch, N. J., and the late Mrs. Rachel Crumwell Ross of Lynchburg. His grandparents are Mrs. Lerline Minor of Lynchburg and the late Clarence Minor.
The bride wore an ivory satin floor length gown featuring a full skirt with satin bow and chapel length train. The schiffli embroidered lace basque bodice was embossed with pearls and iridescents featuring a V-neckline and pouf sleeves. Her headpiece was an ivory halo with silk flowers and iridescents and pearls. She carried a fresh floral bouquet of stargazer chrysanthemums with orchids, pink tea roses and statice.
She was attended by her three sisters, Mrs. Carol D. Wills of Martinsville, Va., Mrs. Mary (Ann) D. Belvin of Martinsville, Va., and Mrs. Ramona D. Dalton of Raleigh, N. C. Each attendant wore a full length two piece suite of passion iridescent organza featuring a double-breasted jacket and cascade collar. Their floral bouquets were like those of bride with the addition of cascading ivy.
The bride was escorted by her son, John Jacob Spencer, and given in marriage by her parents. Her flower girl, little Miss Adrianne Dudley, daughter of Mr. Walter Dudley of Stoneville, N. C., wore a full length ivory satin dress with a beaded pearl and iridescent bodice.
Groomsmen were Mr. Andrew L. Wills of Martinsville, Mr. Charles N. Belvin of Martinsville, Va., and Mr. Troy A. Dalton, Jr., of Raleigh, N. C., all brothers-in-law of the bride. Ushers were Mr. Jeffrey D. Barnett, Sr., of Roanoke, Va., Mr. Clinton L. Crump of Roanoke, Va., Mr. William O. Hickman of Roanoke, Va., Dr. Glen A. Holmes of Christiansburg, Va., Dr. Cornell N. Morton of Christiansburg, Va., and Dr. Charles A. Pinder of Blacksburg, Va.
The following friends of the bride served as hostesses, Mrs. Freda G. Barnett, Roanoke, Mrs. Frances B. Carter, Lynchburg, Ms. Faith Galloway, Roanoke, Ms. Felicia Galloway, Roanoke, Mrs. Virginia Hoover, Mayodan, N. C., Mrs. Sheila Hickman, Roanoke, Ms. Ivy McClam, Garner, N. On Friday evening, June 11th, a rehearsal dinner was hosted by the groom for all members of the wedding party, family and friends in the fellowship hall of High Street Baptist Church.
Immediately following the wedding service, the bride and groom hosted a dinner reception for four hundred guests in the Anchor of Hope multipurpose hall of High Street Baptist Church.
Music for the 3:00 o'clock wedding was rendered by Mr. Leander Morris of Newark, Delaware, organist; Rev. Samuel Robinson of Daleville, Va.; Alva Fletcher-Sykes and Clarence C. Sykes, vocalists, both of Lynchburg.
The bride is a graduate of Saint Augustine's College in Raleigh, N. C., and a graduate of Ohio State University. She was formerly employed by Eden Public Schools. The groom received his education from Benedict College, Lynchburg College, and received his doctorate from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, Blacksburg, Va., where he is currently a faculty member of the college of education.
After returning from their honeymoon to the Bahamas, Dr. and Mrs. Crumwell will reside in Christiansburg.
