CRASH VICTIM'S MOTHER SUING TEEN-AGE DRIVER

A woman whose son suffered brain damage in a single-vehicle accident is suing the teen-age driver for almost $15 million.

Lourdes Bernabe of McLean filed the suit in Fairfax County Circuit Court on behalf of her 17-year-old son, Cedric.

The youth, then a senior at Langley High School, was riding in a Chevrolet Blazer that authorities said was part of a caravan of vehicles taking youths from party to party March 26.

The Blazer belonged to Cedric's father but was being driven by a 17-year-old friend, who hasn't been identified because he is a juvenile.

Another Langley student, Mary Kathleen Kelly, was killed in the accident and another was injured.

The suit says Cedric's recovery has been slow and may never be complete.

The accident stunned Langley High School students, parents and teachers and drew attention to the problem of teen-age drinking.
