EX-BOYFRIEND'S SLAYING CALLED JUSTIFIABLE

A woman who shot and killed her former boyfriend after he broke into her apartment armed with a bayonet will not be charged, Prince William County authorities said.

Police called the shooting a justifiable homicide.

Anthony E. Goree, 26, of Meridian, Miss., had been ordered confined to the Quantico Marine Corps Base after his arrest June 15 on a charge of assaulting the woman, who was not identified, police said. Goree was a Marine corporal.

The 21-year-old woman, also a Marine corporal, told police Goree had threatened to kill her and she bought a semiautomatic handgun last weekend for protection.

About 3 a.m. Tuesday, Goree broke into the woman's Woodbridge apartment, where she lived with her year-old daughter, and she shot him, she told police.
