OBIT KIRBY, JAMES R.
KIRBY, James R., 88, of Alexandria, formerly of Roanoke, died Friday, July
2, 1993, in a Roanoke hospital. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby
Childress Kirby. He was a retired machinist with the U. S. Treasury Bureau of
Engraving and Printing. He was a member of the Melrose Masonic Lodge, #139
AFAM and the Virginia Heights Masonic Lodge, #324 AFAM and a life member of
the Lebanon Masonic Lodge, #7 FAAM, Washington, D.C. He was a 32nd degree
Mason and member of the Almas Temple Shrine. Surviving are two sons, James R.
(Bob) Kirby Jr. of Springfield and Max D. Kirby of North Olmsted, Ohio; five
grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two nephews. There will be a Masonic
service 7:30 p.m. Monday, at Oakey's North Chapel. Graveside services will be
at the Fair View Cemetery 10 a.m. Tuesday, with the Rev. Ronald Smith
officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and 6:30
to 9 p.m. Monday at Oakey's North Chapel.
