POST 3 NORTH STAVES OFF ROCKY MOUNT

Doug Mundy had two doubles, two singles and three RBI in four at-bats as Roanoke Post 3 North held off Rocky Mount 9-8 in American Legion baseball Monday at Salem's Municipal Field.

Roanoke (8-1) held a 9-5 lead after the fifth inning but Rocky Mount (1-8) got three unearned runs in the top of the eighth before Roanoke's Al Holland came in with the bases loaded and two outs. He allowed one run before getting the save. Chris Carr had five walks in five at-bats, stole two bases and scored twice for Roanoke.

Post 3 North next plays Saturday at 3 p.m. against Martinsville at William Byrd.
