John F. Kennedy Jr. is throwing in the towel at the Manhattan district attorney's office, and no one seems to know where the "sexiest man alive" is going next.

Kennedy will leave after he disposes of his cases, which could take several weeks, District Attorney Robert Morgenthau's office said Wednesday.

Kennedy, 32, declined to comment on his plans, and neither would his confidants. He has said he might run for office one day.

The Daily News reported Wednesday that Kennedy is rumored to be taking a job in the Labor Department. Newsweek said this week that he would be attending the John F. Kennedy School of Government in Cambridge, Mass. Kennedy joined the DA's office in 1989.

People magazine once dubbed Kennedy "the sexiest man alive." Lately, he has been seeing actress Daryl Hannah and recently took her to his 10th reunion at Brown University in Providence, R.I.

Miss Black America for 1993, Pilar Ginger Fort, plans to use her title to help motivate schoolchildren.

"My mother and sister are both teachers, and I want the chance to go into high schools and meet kids and help them learn," the 22-year-old University of Michigan student said Monday.

Fort, of Southfield, Mich., received $2,500 in cash, a $500 shopping spree, a trip to Barbados and beauty products for her victory Sunday. The annual competition is held in conjunction with the Indiana Black Expo.

Fort, who works as an intern in a record distribution firm, said she hopes to become a music business executive.

First runner-up was Felicia Pittman of Milwaukee. Second and third runners-up were Candace Tims of Montgomery, Ala., and Jacqueline Funchess of Killeen, Texas.
