SERENA NICOLE FRAZIER BEEDIE, who graduated with honors from Hollins College in May, has received the Old Dominion Athletic Conference's Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award. The award recognizes good sportswomanship, dedication and leadership. Beedie was selected from 13 nominees representing various ODAC colleges. She was captain of her volleyball and basketball teams and a member of Alpha Kappa Delta international honor society in sociology.

\ REBECCA O'CONNOR, daughter of Eleanor O'Connor of Roanoke and Michael O'Connor of Bristol, Tenn., was named to the dean's list for the spring semester at Clemson (S.C.) University.

\ HIDDEN VALLEY JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL Latin I and II students received medals and certificates for high scores on the National Latin Exam.

Tommy Boothe (Latin I), Michael Miller and Jonathan Shorter (Latin II) received silver medals.

Josh Casker (Latin I), David Allen, Robert Herchenrider, Greg Neate and Rachel Perrot (Latin II) earned magna cum laude certificates.

Jennifer Allen, Melissa Kell (Latin I), Joanna Capps, Kerri Cumbie, and Stephen Kunkle (Latin II) received cum laude certificates.

\ KELLY MASON, daughter of Peggy Sue Mason and the late Dewey M. Mason of Roanoke, earned her master of arts degree at Virginia Tech.
