Lunch on the Lawn brings in $16,000
The League of Older Americans' Agency on Aging raised nearly $16,000 during its recent Lunch on the Lawn.
Money was raised through ticket sales as well as sales of merchandise, gift certificates and art donated by Roanoke-area merchants, individuals and artists.
Nearly 600 people had the lunches delivered to their homes or offices, and 200 people picked up their lunches.
All of the funds raised will be used to provide hot lunches for homebound older people under the Meals on Wheels program.
