Pageant chairman Dotty Talbott, who was Ms. National Senior Citizen in 1991, says the event is not a beauty pageant. Its purpose is to recognize the potential of seniors and give them a chance to take pride in themselves and to inspire others to ambition and achievement. Contestants will be judged on poise, fashion sense and talent.
"It is an opportunity to meet new friends, have a good time and get a taste of show biz," Talbott says.
The winner of the state pageant will be sent, expenses paid, to compete in the National Pageant in Joliet, Ill., in October.
Deadline to sign up is July 30. For details or an application, contact Talbott at P.O. Box 239, Dublin, Va. 24084. Phone: 674-5534.
