RADFORD POLICE CHARGE 2 TEENS IN BREAK-INS

City police have charged two teen-age boys from Montgomery County with several recent break-ins and thefts, most of them in downtown Radford.

A 15-year-old and a 17-year-old have each been charged with two counts of breaking and entering and two counts of grand larceny in connection with reported break-ins and thefts at Athlete's Choice, according to news releases.

The youths are not being identified because they are minors.

Jeff Reynolds, owner of the store at 1011 Norwood St., reported on June 18 and June 29 that the store's front door had been forced open and items had been stolen.

The boys are scheduled to appear in Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court on Aug. 25.

The two youths are also charged with breaking into the Radford Amoco in the same block of Norwood Street on April 1 and June 29.

Greg Brown, owner of the service station, reported the business had been broken into and items taken. Some of the items were recovered, police said.

The 17-year-old is charged with two counts of breaking and entering and grand larceny.

The 15-year-old is charged with one count each of breaking and entering and grand larceny.

The investigation is continuing.

The 17-year-old also faces two other grand larceny charges. One stems from an investigation of an April 6 theft from a resident who had tools and other items taken from his vehicle on Wadsworth Street.

The other charge is in connection with a complaint by Ben Hale of Bailey's Restaurant, 1033 Norwood St., about several cases of beer stolen from a cooler in early May.

Police are also continuing to investigate these two thefts.

The youths are scheduled to appear in Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court on Aug. 25.
