OBIT BROOKS, SAM CALVIN

BROOKS, Sam Calvin, 79 of Marion, died Thursday, July 8, 1993, in Smyth County Community Hospital. He was a retired employee of Ogle Coal Company, Coretta, W. Va.; and was a charter member of the Liberty Freewill Baptist Church. He was survived by his wife, Ruby Brooks; one son, Gary Brooks; one daughter, Barbara Jean Hall; one brother, Rush Brooks; two sisters, Ethel Smith and Josie Smith, all of Marion; two grandchildren, J.D. Hall, Teresa Brooks; a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Liberty Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. David Neitch and Rev. Darrell Pickle officiating. Burial will follow in the West Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Barnett's Marion Funeral Home.
