The five new Wythe County athletes who will be added to the Hall of Fame monument in Withers Park at Wytheville are Garland "Butch" Lowder, the Rev. Tom Sproule, Frank "Toar" Spraker, Hal Absher Jr. and the late Rich Holbrook.
In addition to broadcasting, Dickey has sung with the Cincinnati Summer Opera and San Diego Light Opera Company. He was a choirmaster for 20 years.
He also managed Tanglewood Mall in Roanoke from 1978 to 1985.
During his 34 years in television and radio in Cincinnatiand Roanoke he worked as a staff announcer, salesman, film manager, music director, news reporter, sportscaster and weatherman. He directed WSLS's first newscast and the first Miss Virginia Pageant.
He retired in April as production manager at WSLS.
