BETTER `TAX, SPEND' THAN `TAX, KEEP'

CONGRATULATIONS to our recently installed president, who attempts to execute his duties in the best interest of our nation, its citizens and his family while avoiding finger-pointing and self-professed individual morality.

Concerning his oh-so-moral attackers, spearheaded by a one-man talk show, do they protest too much?

Regarding the tired, old "tax and spend" slogan: If that is the case, it is certainly preferable to the past 12 years of "tax and keep" policy, in which the only thing that trickled down to most of us was job losses, cutbacks, loss of health insurance and loss of small businesses and homes. The "moral" right would have us believe that this economic disaster was caused by our lack of morality, rather than Ronald Reagan's and George Bush's economic policies. JOAN PHELPS HOT SPRINGS
