NAMES ON CAMPUS

KRISTEN A. COGSWELL, daughter of Dennis and Nancy Cogswell of Radford, has graduated from Appalachian State University in Boone, N.C., with a bachelor's degree in English.

She was a member of Gamma Beta Phi National Honor Society for four years and received the Student Leadership Award her junior year.

\ PATRICIA LYNN DUNCAN, daughter of Vance and Lena Duncan of Christiansburg, received a doctor of philosophy degree from Auburn University in Alabama.

\ REBECCA MURRAY received a bachelor's degree in English and history from Bucknell University.

She is the daughter of Lynda Murray and the late Frank Murray of Blacksburg.

\ KIMBERLY ANNE BROWN of Blacksburg received a master's of business administration degree from the Darden School of the University of Virginia.

Christiansburg resident GEOFFREY P. MALLETTE has received a bachelor's degree in accounting from Boston University.

\ LAUREN E. COGSWELL, daughter of Dennis and Nancy Cogswell of Radford, has completed her first year as an honor scholar at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, where she received the Outstanding Freshman Leadership Award.

She was on the dean's list for the first semester, and the president's list for a 4.0 grade-point average during the the second semester.

\ JUD FLYNN of Blacksburg Flynn has graduated from the New England Culinary Institute in Montpelier, Vt., with an associate degree in occupational studies.

\ DR. CYNTHIA J. ANNESKI, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Anthony Anneski, of Pulaski, has been offered a position as a fellow in infectious diseases with the University of Virginia School of Medicine in Charlottesville.

The Blacksburg Chapter AU of the PEO Sisterhood, a philanthropic and educational organization, has awarded Jean B. Buerr Memorial Scholarships to three New River Valley students:

\ CYNTHIA LOUISE CLEMENS of Blacksburg, a sophomore at Virginia Tech.

\ KARA LOUISE GIBBON of Radford, a first-year law student at the University of Richmond's T.C. Williams School of Law.

\ LIBERTY ANN BOOR of Radford, a freshman at Georgetown University's School of Languages in Washington.

Several students of National Business College on Salem have received Outstanding Achievement Awards:

\ DONNA FLINCHUM of Pearisburg won the achievement-award for extraordinary effort in reaching personal and educational goals.

\ JOYCE ATKINS of Floyd won an M.A. Smythe Award for high academic achievement.

\ ANGELA SWORD of McCoy and DONNA CROSS of Elliston won Mary P. McGurn awards for high academic achievement in the administrative and executive secretarial program.

In addition, Joyce Atkins, TIA COLLINS of Elliston, DONNA CROSS, DONNA FLINCHUM, and SYLVIA WIMMER of Rich Creek were inducted into the 1993 edition of "Who's Who Among Students in American Junior Colleges."

The following local students who attend college out of town have been named to deans' lists for the spring semester:

\ LAUREL KATE SHULER, daughter of Jim and Margaret Shuler of Blacksburg, at Georgetown University in Washington with first honors for both fall and spring semesters.

\ KELLY LYNN CAREY of Blacksburg at Salisbury State University in Maryland.

\ NATIONAL BUSINESS COLLEGE'S DEAN'S LIST for the spring semester includes several New River Valley students.
