FAMILY CARE GETS MORE ATTENTION

Some of the nation's leading corporations are pouring millions of dollars into programs aimed at helping workers and others care for children and the elderly, Working Mother magazine says in its August issue.

Its report listed nine corporations and the amounts being spent:

NationsBank, $35 million: $25 million in child-care subsidies for lower-paid workers plus $10 million to help build and expand child and elderly-care facilities in cities where the corporation has at least 1,000 employees.

American Telephone & Telegraph, $25 million.

International Business Machines, $25 million.

Dayton Hudson, $10 million.

Nynex, $6 million.

Pacific Bell, $2.4 million.

Xerox, $1.5 million.

Levi Strauss, more than $1 million.

Du Pont, $478,000. - Associated Press
