Noel Dixon, 23, had exchanged words with another man in a store in his Northwest Roanoke neighborhood. Dixon had bumped into the other man, police said, but the two parted after an argument.
Moments later, Dixon was walking along Harrison Avenue when the other man shot at him from a vehicle. Police said several shots were fired from a large-caliber handgun.
The vehicle then left the scene. Police officers found it abandoned several blocks from the shooting location.
Dixon was treated at Roanoke Memorial Hospital for gunshot wounds to his upper thigh and was released.
