2 MEN DIE WHILE SWIMMING IN NORTH RIVER

An Augusta County teen-ager and a 32-year-old friend drowned Sunday while swimming in the North River.

Nathan Wells, 18, of Mount Sidney, had gone under water about 2 p.m. while swimming in the Sandy Bottom area. Kenneth Lyle Wimer of Bridgewater had gone under the surface to find him after he failed to come up, police said.

Rescue workers and police found the two about 30 or 40 yards downriver in water about 15 feet deep.
