AMERICAN ELECTRIC POWER

American Electric Power Co., the Columbus, Ohio-based parent of Appalachian Power Co., on Monday reported second-quarter earnings of $86.2 million, or 47 cents per share. That was a 16.1 percent increase over $74.3 million, or 40 cents per share, earned in the second quarter of 1992.

Operating revenues for the second quarter were $1.210 billion, an increase of 3.1 percent over 1992's $1.174 billion.
