SCHOOLS HONOR 3 RETIREES

Three Pulaski County School Board employees have completed more than three-quarters of a century of service to education in three different ways.

The board honored the three retirees at its meeting last week.

Roy Lovern recalled that his monthly pay was $200 when he started working as a custodian in 1961. After a few years at another job, he came back to the school system and put in about 28 years before stepping down at the end of the 1992-93 year.

Wanda Roseberry, a secretary with 25 years in the system, said she enjoyed her work all those years.

"The county's been real good to me," said Catherine Stowers, a teacher for 23 years.

Five employees retired from the school system at the end of the recently completed school year. The other two will be honored later.
