OBIT THORNTON, GEORGE WILLIAM

THORNTON, George William, 73, of Natural Bridge Station, died Monday, July 19, 1993, at his home. Mr. Thornton was born June 18, 1920 in W.Va., a son of the late Henry Thornton and Ethel Rhodes Thornton. He was a member of the Arnold's Valley Southern Baptist Church and retired from Burlington Industry. Surviving are his wife, Anna Belle Austin Wilcher Thornton; one son, John William Thornton, Lebanon, Ill.; two daughters, Joyce Ann Stevens, South Point, Ohio, Sonda Dawson, Huntington, W.Va.; three stepsons, David Wilcher, James Wilcher, and John Wilcher, all of Natural Bridge Station; one stepdaughter, Nancy Pelter, Buena Vista; one brother, Calvin Thornton, Fairhaven, Maine; one half sister, Lillian Edwards, St. Albans, W.Va.; six grandchildren; eight stepgrandchildren; two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday, July 22, 1993 at the Arnold's Valley Southern Baptist Church, with the Rev. Donald W. Stine officiating. Burial will follow in the Rockbridge Memorial Gardens. Memorial donations may be made to the Arnold's Valley Southern Baptist Church or the Glasgow First Aid Crew. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Harrison Funeral Home, Lexington.
