EX-PRIEST BROUGHT TO VA. ON MOLESTATION CHARGE

A former priest was ordered held on $50,000 bond Wednesday after he returned to Virginia to face charges he molested an altar boy 27 years ago at a Roman Catholic church and school.

Paul Rodriguez, 59, of Los Osos, Calif., was being held in the Charlottesville-Albemarle Joint Security Complex after the bond hearing in Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court. He flew to Virginia with two Charlottesville police officers Tuesday night after waiving extradition July 9.

A man who had been an altar boy at Holy Comforter Catholic Church told authorities about six months ago that he had been fondled by a priest in 1966 when he was 11 years old, Charlottesville police said.

Police said there is no statute of limitations on sexual abuse charges.
