Circuit Judge G.O. Clemens also placed the man on probation for 20 years after his release and stipulated that he have no unsupervised contact with young girls.
The man - who is not being identified to protect the victim's privacy - asked if he could serve his time in the Roanoke County Jail so he could keep his job and get psychological counseling.
But Clemens said the man's crimes were serious enough to warrant a penitentiary sentence.
Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney Mark Claytor said the man had robbed his daughter of her childhood and destroyed her trust in him.
"To read the victim-impact statement makes one want to cry," Claytor said.
