AIRMAN 1ST CLASS LLOYD E. CLARK JR., son of Susan D. Shrewberry of 2 Tree Lane and Lloyd E. Clark Sr. of Halifax, has graduated from basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.

\ MARINE PVT. ROBERT SHANNON HALL, son of Bobby and Lois Hall of Roanoke, has completed basic training at Parris Island, S.C. He also received a medal for expert score on the firing range.

Hall, who now is training at Camp Lejeune, N.C., is a graduate of Cave Spring High School.

\ MARINE CPL. ZACHARY C. BOWER, son of Mr. and Mrs. R.A. Bower of Blue Ridge, is participating in Operation Restore Hope, a peace-keeping mission off the coast of Somalia, with the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit, based at Camp Lejeune, N.C.

Bower is a 1990 graduate of Lord Botetourt High School.

\ MARINE CPL. MICHAEL A. HILL, son of Billy and Betty Hill of Fincastle, is participating in Operation Restore Hope, a peace-keeping mission off the coast of Somalia, with the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit, based at Camp Lejeune, N.C.

\ NAVY FIREMAN JERRY A. HUTCHINSON, son of Alfred and Linda Hutchinson of New Castle, is participating in Operation Restore Hope, a peace-keeping mission off the coast of Somalia, as part of the USS Wasp Amphibious Ready Group.

Hutchinson, a 1990 graduate of Craig County High School, is stationed aboard the amphibious cargo ship USS El Paso, based in Norfolk.

\ PAUL D. FRANKLIN, son of David L. Franklin and Brenda Martin of Blue Ridge, has reported for duty at Marine Corps Service Support Schools at Camp Lejeune, N.C.

Franklin is a 1992 graduate of Liberty High School.

\ NAVY SEAMAN RECRUIT DAVON C. NICHOLSON, son of Diana L. Nicholson of Roanoke, has completed basic training at Great Lakes, Ill.

Nicholson is a 1991 graduate of William Fleming High School.

\ MARINE PVT. CARYL J. DUARTE, daughter of Frank and Kay Duarte of Roanoke, has completed recruit training at Parris Island, S.C.

Duarte is a 1992 graduate of Cave Spring High School.

\ NAVY CMDR. RICHARD C. RUSH, son of Charles C. Rush Jr. of Roanoke, has been named commanding officer of the guided missile frigate USS Stark, based in Mayport, Fla.

Rush previously was assigned to the AEGIS Training Center in Dahlgren.
