NAMES ON CAMPUS

The Faculty Senate at Virginia Tech has elected DAVID DeWOLF, a professor of electrical engineering, as its president.

Other new officers for the Faculty Senate are vice president LARRY SHUMSKY, an associate professor of history, and secretary ROBERT SUMICRAST, an associate professor of management sciences.

\ MICHAEL HENSLEY, the director of the economic development assistance center in the public service programs, presented the keynote address, "Scared No More: Management Techniques for Reducing Fear in the Workplace," at the National Association of Management and Technical Assistance Centers conference in Washington.

Hensley also was appointed to be the chairman of a steering committee that will develop a quality-oriented awards program for university research centers and for economic development districts in the U.S. Economic Development Administration's Eastern Region.

\ JOE A. ADAMS, economic development specialist in the public service programs, has been appointed by the Virginia Chamber of Commerce to serve on the program committee for the Virginia Conference on World Trade.

\ ROBERT D. DRYDEN, a professor and the head of industrial and systems engineering ay Virginia Tech, has received the Albert G. Holzman Distinguished Educator Award from the Institute of Industrial Engineers.

Galley Pruf, the Virginia Press Women's newsletter edited by LYNN NYSTROM, the news director in the College of Engineering, tied for first place in the country for "excellence in communicating with its members on news, issues, programs, and projects for a stronger organization."

The newsletter is designed by DAVID SIMPKINS of Radford.

The judges noted the addition of a humor column by NANCY FEUREBAC, information officer with the center for intelligent materials systems and structures at Virginia Tech.
