GOVERNMENT BY, AND FOR, THE PEOPLE

SUPERVISOR Ed Kohinke has done a disservice to the voters of Virginia by not supporting elected school boards.

I live in Roanoke County, but cannot vote Kohinke out of office. Where is our local self-government?

Other states in the United States have elected school boards. Not Virginia. Elected school boards are called local self-government. Why should Virginia voters be denied?

Elect school boards, then parents and all citizens will have a direct voice in local government. We can hold the board accountable for annual budgets, and we can vote the board members out of office if they fail to perform in the interests of education and students.

Bring back local self-government! CHARLES E. THORNTON ROANOKE
