No. 1-ranked Ritch's/Superior and No. 2-ranked Bell Corp. combined for 65 home runs Saturday night in a winners' bracket semifinal game of the USSSA Men's Masters national slow-pitch softball tournament. Ritch's/Superior, of Windsor Locks, Conn., had 30 homers and won 61-58 at the Moyer Sports Complex in Salem.
Bell Corp., using 16 home runs, scored 29 runs before making its first out in the sixth inning. In the inning, Phil White had a grand slam and two two-run homers - he had seven homers and 13 RBI total - and Kerry Everett had three solo homers.
Down 57-45, Ritch's/Superior (58-2), which is 8-1 against Bell Corp., came back with 16 runs, including four homers.
Ritch's Dave Steffen had six home runs, two singles and 12 RBI, and Tot Powers hit four homers.
Bell's Monty Tucker of Fincastle hit three homers and three singles.
In other tournament games:
Steele's/Sunbelt of Cleveland defeated Taylor Brothers of Providence, R.I., 31-11 in the other semifinal.
Ritch's and Steele's meet at 8 a.m. in the winners' bracket final.
Bell Corp. defeated AJD of Richmond 34-11 and Taylor Brothers defeated Beloli of Taunton, Mass., 39-23. AJD and Beloli meet at 9:30 a.m. for a berth in the USSSA World Series on Sept. 16-19 in Daytona Beach, Fla.
Bell Corp. and Taylor Brothers meet at 8 a.m. The winner will play the loser of the Ritch's-Steele's game at 9:30 for the losers' bracket title.
The championship is at 11, with a second game, if necessary, at 12:30 p.m.
