Six of those protesters used duct tape, bicycle chains and wire cable to attach themselves to and block the entrance of the Prince William Women's Clinic about 8 a.m., Sgt. R.L. Bagshaw said. Police had removed those protesters by 10 a.m., he said.
Charges against the protesters included trespassing, conspiracy to riot, participating in an unlawful assembly, obstructing free passage and resisting arrest. Their names and other details were not immediately available.
Clinic officials could not be reached Friday afternoon.
About 45 anti-abortion protesters attended the rally, Bagshaw said. He said the protest was smaller than others and was probably organized by a Northern Virginia church congregation.
About 15 abortion-rights supporters later arrived at the rally, but police encouraged them to leave the area because it already had been cleared, Bagshaw said.
