OBIT REED, JESSE CLARENCE
REED, Jesse Clarence, 88, of Roanoke, died Saturday, July 24, 1993. He was
a deacon of the Ninth Street Church of the Brethren, a former employee of the
American Viscose Corp. and retired from the maintenance department of
Friendship Manor. He is survived by his wife of sixty-five years, Alvah Lester
Reed; daughter and son-in-law, Lois R. and Fred A. Woodson; one son and
daughter-in-law Lester G. and Joyce W. Reed, all of Roanoke; nine
grandchildren, Frederic and Philip Woodson, Galen and Michael Reed, Diane
Caldwell, Suzanne Bolton, Annette Jones, Laura Lloyd and Renee Sala, fifteen
great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Bertha R. Hylton, Roanoke. Funeral
services will be conducted from Oakey's North Chapel at 3 p.m. Monday, July
26, 1993, with Mr. Leslie Viar and Rev. Graham Sowers officiating. Burial will
be in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made
to Ninth Street Church of the Brethren or to Camp Bethel. Friends may call
Oakey's North Chapel where the family will receive friends from 2 to 5 p.m and
7 to 9 p.m Sunday.
