OBIT MARTIN, WOODROW WILSON

MARTIN, Woodrow Wilson, 74, of Altavista, died Saturday, July 24, 1993, in Virginia Baptist Hospital. He was born May 22, 1919, in Bedford County. He was a son of the late George J. Martin and Sally Musgrove Martin. He was also preceded in death by a son, Allen J. Martin. He was a retired employee with Abbott Laboratories, a Veteran of World War II, a member of Mentow Masonic Lodge #180 AF & AM, and was a member of Altavista Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife, Pauline Bolling Martin of the residence; two sons, Vincent Martin of Lynch Station and Ronald Martin of Hartsville, S.C.; two daughters, Mrs. Randy (Valerie) Parker of Gretna and Mrs. Creighton (Karen) Beatty of Martinsville; three brothers, Herbert J. Martin of Chesapeake, Wilbur B. Martin and F. Emerson Martin, both of Bedford; three sisters, Mrs. Elmer Austin of Huddleston and Mrs. Cedric Woodford and Mrs. Richard Johnson, both of Roanoke; eight grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday, July 27, 1993, at Altavista Church of Christ by Lory Brafford, Minister and Lowell Thornton, Minister. Interment will follow in Mentow Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Altavista Life Saving Crew, P.O. Box 1, Altavista, VA 24517. Colbert-Moran Funeral Home, Gretna is in charge of arrangements.
