KIRBY,Raymond Kenneth Sr., 78, of Salem, died Sunday, July 25, 1993, at his
home. He was a retired engineer of N&W Railway after 32 years. He was an
active member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church for over 40 years. He served in
the U.S. Navy in World War II. He is survived by wife, Emma Dutton Kirby; son
and daughter-in-law, Ray K. and Ann Kirby Jr. of Virginia Beach, Va.; a
daughter, Donna Lee Duke, Salem; two brothers, John D. Kirby, Clifton Kirby;
sister, Georgia Hedge all of Pulaski; one grandson, Jimmy Duke; four
granddaughters, Debbie Phillips, Ellen Kirby, Amanda Kirby; Cathryn Kirby; one
great-granddaughter, Dreama Phillips; a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral
services will be held Wednesday, July 28, 1993, at 10 a.m., Lotz Salem Chapel
with Dr. George Bowers and Rev. Roy Whitescarver officiating. Interment will
be in Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and
7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Lotz Salem Chapel.
