NO GLOOM AT BUSINESS COLLEGE

IN THE INTEREST of accuracy, please let me add some clarification to Saturday's article, Business School Lays Off Staff For Efficiency.

1. From the entire 350 + member staff and faculty at National Business College, only 2 employees were laid off--not 7 or 12.

2. By the same token, three full-time and two part-time staffers at L&L Marketing, a division of the 43-employee Education Systems Corporation, were released. (Education Systems is a separate corporation from National Business College and provides administrative, marketing and financial services for three colleges, two affiliated companies and several non-affiliated organizations.)

All the individuals affected were both friends and excellent colleagues and hopefully will be returning to us in other capacities soon.

3. In the past two years, National's employment has increased 13%--from 322 to 364 employees.

4. The number of Educcaiton Systems employees has also increased from 35 to 43 employees--22% in two years.

5. The advance new enrollments for the Fall Term at National are up 33% over 1992.

In short, the gloomy picture presented in Saturday's paper is simply not true. To the contrary, at National Business College, we are growing, expanding, educating students--and creating jobs in Western Virginia.

Also, our Bluefield campus is located in Virginia, not West Virginia, and our Bristol campus was omitted from the article. FRANK LONGAKER PRESIDENT ROANOKE
