OBIT WHITE, JOHN A. `JACK`
WHITE, John A. `Jack`, 64, of Roanoke County, died Tuesday, July 27, 1993,
in Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was born August 16, 1928, in Emory and was a
son of the late John A. and Mamie Littrell White. He graduated from Emory &
Henry College in 1952. He was a member of Who's Who in American Colleges &
Universities and Phi Gamma Phi Fraternity at Emory & Henry College. He served
as President of the Student Body and was very active in football and other
sports at Emory. He was a member of the Northview United Methodist Church in
Roanoke. Survivors include his wife, Wayne Glover White of Roanoke; one son,
J. Mark White of Roanoke; one sister, Alverta White Boatwright of Blacksburg;
several brothers-in-law and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will
be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday in the Memorial Chapel of Emory & Henry College,
Emory, with the Rev. David T. StClair officiating. Burial will follow in the
Holston Conference/Emory & Henry Cemetery, Emory. The family will receive
friends at the Campbell Funeral Home from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday.
