Noonkester graduated with a counseling education master's degree at Virginia Tech and has 14 years experience in counseling and psychological assessment of adults, children, adolescents and families with an interest in attention deficit hyperactivity disorders.

The owner is Steve Swallow, who was with Larson-Juhl, a picture frame moulding manufacturer. In addition to framing, the shop offers woodwork and furnishings by local craftsmen.

It is open Tuesday through Saturday with evening hours on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.

\ WICKS AND WAXES offers handmade candles and ornaments made of honeycomb beeswax to wholesalers and others.

Candles made of beeswax burn longer and do not drip, unlike those made of paraffin. Cindy King, the owner, hand-rolls the candles and offers custom candle orders. She also is a supplier for antique textile spools and bobbins that can be used for candleholders.
