Patrick Henry said Tuesday it plans to close the downtown Lexington office but will retain the branch at Stonewall Square shopping center.
The sale of the two offices was mandated as a condition of the merger of First Union National Bank of Virginia and First American Metro Corp. of McLean because Dominion Bank, also acquired by First Union, already had branches in Lexington.
Worth Harris Carter Jr., chairman of Patrick Henry, said said all employees of both First American offices will remain with Patrick Henry.
Patrick Henry National Bank operates eight offices in Bassett, Martinsville, Stuart, Collinsville, Galax and Hillsville. It has assets of more than $237 million. - Staff report
