Officials said the body of Nyssa Ann McFaddin was discovered by David Crewe of Evington.
Sgt. Ron Henry of the law enforcement division of the Department of Game and Inland Fisheries said they received the call at 4:08 p.m.
The body surfaced just outside the original search area, about 300 feet from shore, Henry said. The body was taken to Franklin Memorial Hospital, where it was identified by a family member.
Nyssa was returning aboard a pontoon July 13 with her aunt, a friend of her aunt's, and a baby after an afternoon on the lake when the girl, riding in the bow, climbed over the railing and slipped.
Her life jacket came off as she fell underneath the boat.
Henry said the cause of death will not be known until the autopsy is performed.
It was originally believed that Nyssa drowned.
"There was evidence that she was struck by the boat's propeller," Henry said.
Heavy lake traffic, poor visibility and trees on the bottom of the lake hindered efforts to locate her. The search for the girl was called off July 19.
Nyssa was from Fort Wayne, Ind., and was in Virginia visiting her father, Dale McFaddin, of Callands.
