ROAD AND RIVER RALLY TO BE RUN AUG. 7

This is a team event in which up to five people can participate in the four-leg event. The event includes a 12.4-mile bike ride from Pearisburg to Pembroke via Broad Hollow, a 3.8-mile run to the New River at Ripplemead, an 8-mile canoe trip to Marshall Concrete, and a 3.8-mile run along the river bank to Magic Mart Plaza. A helmet is required for cycling and life jackets are required for canoeing.

The 26-mile race begins at 10 a.m. There will be a pre-race meeting at King Johnson School in Pearisburg at 9 a.m.

The cost is $10 per team member and $5 extra per team after Aug 7. Checks should be made payable to Giles County Road and River Rally.

Entries should include the name, address, phone, T-shirt size, sex and age of each competitor. They should be sent to Giles County Road and River Rally, in care of Pat Muldoon, P.O. Box 322, Pearisburg, Va. 24134.
