BASEBALL-POST 3 SOUTH EARNS LEGION PLAYOFF SPOT

Robey Caldwell threw a three-hitter and struck out 15 Friday night as Roanoke Post 3 South defeated host Franklin County 6-3 to earn a berth in the American Legion playoff tournament.

Doug Popik went 4-for-5 with two RBI to lead the Roanoke team in the game for eighth place.

Post 3 South will face Halifax at 7:30 p.m. today.
