OBIT OVERSTREET, OWEN LEWIS

OVERSTREET, Owen Lewis, 69, of Rt 1, Thaxton, died Friday, July 30, 1993, in the VA Medical Center, Salem. He was born in Bedford County on April 30, 1924, a son of the late Charles Lewis Overstreet and Mary Dooley Overstreet. He was retired from Rubatex Corporation and was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Gale Overstreet. He is survived by his wife, Ollie Evans Overstreet, Thaxton; two sons, Owen Dale Overstreet, Greensboro, N.C., Larry Wayne Overstreet, Thaxton; three daughters, Darlene O. Witt, Bedford, Judy Lee Goad, Evington, Ellen Lynn Heck, Bedford; two brothers, Robert Lee Overstreet, Bedford, William Edison Overstreet, Goodview; one sister, Frances O. Ruff, Bedford; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild. Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, August 1, 1993, 2 p.m., at the Carder-Tharp Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Silas Bowyer officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m.
