A program of wedding music was performed by Mr. Daniel Edwards, organist, Mrs. Susan Byrum, Mrs. Cindy Edwards, and Captain Kord Basnight, vocalists, and Mrs. Lynnette Volkering, violinist.
Escorted by her father, the bride wore a Priscilla of Boston gown of Irish linen with venice lace and a chapel length train. She wore a finger-tip veil and carried a cascade bouquet of white roses.
Mrs. Ellen Blanchard of Alexandria was matron of honor. She wore a white-on-white tea length gown accented with lace by Bianchi. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Cynthia MacDonald, cousin of the bride, of Chesapeake, Miss Patti Paxton and Mrs. Denice Long of Virginia Beach, Mrs. Jane Einwaechter of Greensboro, North Carolina, Mrs. Toddy Burt of Charlotte, North Carolina, Miss Tammie Summers of Raleigh, North Carolina, and Miss Eleanor Goodman of Frankfort, Germany. Junior bridesmaids was Miss Meredith Custer and the flower girl was Miss Elizabeth Custer, nieces of the bride, of Wilmington, North Carolina. Their gowns matched those of the honor attendant. They carried arm bouquets of mixed summer flowers.
Brian Martin, brother of the groom, of Frederick, Maryland was the best man. Groomsmen were Andrew Martin, brother of the groom, Hackettstown, New Jersey, Scott Custer, brother of the bride, Wilmington, North Carolina, Michael Long, Brian Bean, John Croft, and Steve Connizzara of Norfolk, and Kevin Atkinson, Portland, Oregon.
A reception was held at Founders Inn, Virginia Beach.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Meredith Custer of Roanoke. She is a graduate of Cave Spring High School, James Madison University with a Bachelor of Science degree and Old Dominion University with a Master of Science degree in Counseling.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Everrett Wells Martin of Trumbull, Connecticut. He is a graduate of Trumbull High School and James Madison University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Communication.
Following a wedding trip to Calgary, Canada, the couple will reside in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where the groom is associated with ServiceMaster, Inc.
