Aimee Timberlake Grubbs and William Rueben Terry II were married July 31,
1993, at 7 o'clock in the evening at Raleigh Court Presbyterian Church in
Roanoke. The officiating clergy was Reverend James F. Riach of Covenant
Presbyterian Church in Roanoke. The reception was held at Roanoke Country
Club. The bride was escorted by her stepfather Charles T. Hammes. The maid of
honor was Mary Beth "Molly" Malloy of Chesapeake, best friend of the bride.
The honored bridesmaid was Ashleigh S. Grubbs of Roanoke, sister of the bride.
Bridesmaids were Andrea J. Banner of Blacksburg, Terri J. Bond of Vidalia,
Georgia, Katherine A. Hammes of Ferrum, Teresa A. Kenne of Newport News, Amy
C. Moore of Roanoke and Barbara Ellen Nelson of Midlothian, friends of the
bride. The best man was James C. Wolfe III of Athens, Georgia, best friend of
the groom. Groomsmen were Brian L. Adams of Williamsburg, Steven L. Bell of
Roanoke, Robert A. Bowen of Blacksburg, Christopher T. Chernisky of Patton,
Pennsylvania, G. Gilmer Minor IV of Richmond, Douglas E. Moore of Roanoke and
W. Marshall Simpson of Knoxville, Tennessee, friends of the groom. The
scripture reader was Byron L. Bullard of Charlotte, North Carolina, great
uncle of the bride. The flowergirl was Kendall K. Cox of Richmond, cousin of
the groom. The ringbearers were Stephen T. Cox of Richmond, cousin of the
groom, and J. Wade Hammes of Roanoke, nephew of the bride. The guestbook was
attended by Jane J. Dillon and Nancy W. Farthing of Roanoke, friends of the
bride's family. The candlelighters were John C. Bell of Blacksburg and Dr.
William H. Farthing or Roanoke, friends of the bride's family. Ceremony music
was provided by organist Linda Mayes, flutist Amy Morgan, trumpeter Brian
Lipps and soloist Gil Minor.
The bride and groom were honored with a cookout shower hosted by Ms. Sandra
Puckett at her home, a Mexican fiesta hosted by Dr. and Mrs. William H.
Farthing at their home, a rehearsal dinner hosted by the groom's parents at
the Patrick Henry Hotel, a bridal luncheon hosted by Miss Molly Malloy and
Miss Ellen Nelson at Hidden Valley Country Club, a breakfast hosted by the
bride's parents at their home on Smith Mountain Lake.
The bride is the daughter of Marilyn T. and Charles T. Hammes of Smith
Mountain Lake and the granddaughter of Elsie G. and the late Willard C.
Timberlake of Youngsville, North Carolina. Aimee is a graduate of Cave Spring
High School and VPI & SU with degrees in English and psychology and is
employed by Lumsden Associates, P.C. of Roanoke. The groom is the son of Jayne
C. and William R. Terry of Roanoke and the grandson of Thomas M. and the late
Louise M. Cox of Roanoke and Madeline S. and Joseph H. Terry of Macon,
Georgia. Bill is a graduate of Cave Spring High school and VMI with degrees in
English and history and is employed by National Life of Vermont of Roanoke.
The couple will reside in Roanoke following a wedding trip to St. Lucia,
British Windward Islands.
