STARS WIN TWICE IN TENNESSEE

The Roanoke Stars won two games Sunday at the national AAU 13-and-under girls' basketball tournament in Maryville, Tenn.

Sara Moore had 13 points to lead the way as the Stars defeated Doylestown, Ohio, 58-51. Kristin Smith had 11 points and Lisa Bryant added nine. The Stars made 32 of 52 free throws, with Amy Heath converting five crucial shots in the second half.

In the second game, Moore had 16 points and was 6-for-6 from the line as Roanoke defeated Huntsville, Ala., 53-43. Sarah Hicks added 13 points.

The Stars are 2-1 in pool play and face Wichita, Kan., today. The winner advances into the double-elimination tournament.
