LEGION FINAL FEATURES POST 3 NORTH, DANVILLE

Roanoke Post 3 North and Danville Post 325 advanced to the American Legion district final with victories Sunday night at Salem's Municipal Field.

North beat Halifax County Post 8 10-7. Danville knocked off Roanoke Post 3 West 9-8.

With Halifax and Roanoke North tied 7-7 in the ninth, Donnie Meador singled, Gary Wiggins walked, and Ben Taylor singled to bring in Meador. Chuck Spraker and winning pitcher Chris Carr each hit run-scoring singles.

Roanoke West led the other game 8-4 entering the bottom of the eighth, but Danville got five runs. Ben Barker drove in the go-ahead run with a single. Kelly Dampeer went 4-for-4 with a single, double, triple and three RBI for West.

North and Danville square off tonight at 8 at Municipal Field.
