OBIT BERRY, CAMERON HARMAN

BERRY, Cameron Harman, 69, of Rt. 6, Lexington and formerly of Norfolk, died Saturday, July 31, 1993, at 6 p.m. in Stonewall Jackson Hospital. He was born in Richmond on July 3, 1924, the son of William Roscoe Berry and Caroline Virginia (Harman) Berry. Mr. Berry's parents were reared in Rockbridge County. His grandfather, Asher W. Harman, was treasurer of Virginia for thirty-eight years. He was the great-grandson of Col. Michael G. Harman of Staunton and Col. Andrew W. Cameron of Rockbridge County. He served in the U. S. Navy during World War II and later attended Wheaton College, Wheaton, Ill. He retired from the Norfolk Naval Air Rework Facility in 1988, making his home in Rockbridge County for the past five years. Mr. Berry was a born-again Christian, a member of Grace Presbyterian Church, Lexington, and a member of the Kerr's Creek Ruritan Club. He attended the Christian Men's Prayer Breakfasts on a regular basis. Also, he was a long-time member of Tabernacle Church of Norfolk. Survivors include his wife, Ileen (Sebby) Berry; a son and daughter-in-law, David Cameron Berry and Beth Baechtold Berry, and their sons, David Cameron Berry Jr. and Reid Ralston Berry, all of Glencoe, Ill; a daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca Berry Spooner and Arthur Dean Spooner Jr. and their daughters, Courtney Brooke Spooner and Taylor Jordan Spooner of Virginia Beach; a brother, William R. Berry of Kennesaw, Ga.; three sisters, Alice Eugenia Berry Lane, Alexandria, Caroline Berry Fiess, Ringoes, N.J., and Margaret Berry Fiess, Wheaton, Ill. Smith and William's Funeral Home, Norfolk, will conduct a graveside service at 11 a.m Wednesday, in Forest Lawn Cemetery. A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Tabernacle Church. The family suggests memorials be made to the Rockbridge Area Hospice, P. O. Box 948, Lexington, Va. Local arrangements were handled by Williams Funeral Service Inc.
