The Arts Council of the Blue Ridge will present the Davidson family of Roanoke with the Perry F. Kendig Award for Outstanding Support of the Arts. The presentation will be made Tuesday Aug. 3 at a reception from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Jefferson Center, 540 Campbell Ave. S.W., Roanoke.
Sigmund and Harriet Davidson will be honored with their sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Jane Davidson and Steve and Sherry Davidson, for their commitment and support of cultural activities in the Valley. Their contributions include underwriting ``Affair in the Square,'' the annual fund-raiser that will benefit five organizations in Roanoke's Center in the Square.

\ `Foxfire' opens
``Foxfire,'' a tale about the mountain spirit of the Appalachian people, opens at Mill Mountain Theatre's Main Stage on Friday Aug. 6 and plays through Aug. 29. Previews are set for Wednesday and ThursdayAug. 4-5, with an interpreted performance for the hearing impaired set for the Aug. 21 matinee.
