VINTON TOT DIES AFTER FALL IN POOL AT RELATIVES' HOME

A 3-year-old Vinton girl who fell into a swimming pool Sunday while visiting relatives in Montvale died Monday at Community Hospital in Roanoke.

The girl was identified by the hospital as Leeanna Marie Caudill.

Authorities said she was found in an above-ground pool after she wandered away from family members. She apparently climbed a short flight of steps to reach the pool.

She is the daughter of Jerry and Janet Caudill.

Rescue workers went to the drowning along Virginia 691 about 5 p.m. and transported her to Community Hospital, where she died 12 hours later.
