FREDERICK PITCHERS SHUT DOWN BUCS 3-0

Frederick Keys starter Jimmy Haynes combined with two relievers to shut down the Salem Buccaneers 3-0 in Carolina League baseball Monday night.

Keys pitchers registered 13 strikeouts, including every Salem hitter except Ramon Espinosa. Haynes allowed four hits in five innings and struck out eight.

Second baseman Chance Sanford (2-for-4) was the only Buccaneer with more than one hit. Salem stranded eight runners.

Frederick got all its runs in the first inning. Curtis Goodwin led off with a triple and scored on Scott McClain's single. Brad Seitzer added a run-producing single and Jose Millares lofted a sacrifice fly.
