OBIT HAMBLETT, LAWRENCE ALBERT
HAMBLETT, Lawrence Albert, 69, of Roanoke, died Tuesday, August 3, 1993, at
the VA Medical Center, Salem. He was born in Crumpler, W.Va., July 19, 1924, a
son of the late James O. and Lula P. Hamblett. He was a Navy veteran of World
War II, a member of the Vinton Moose Lodge, the D.A.V. and the V.F.W. He was
retired from the Bedford County School Board. Surviving are his wife, Eveline
W. Hamblett; two daughters and sons-in-law, Margie and Dennis Krantz,
Huddleston, Janet and Michael Mathews, Houston, Texas; six grandchildren,
Kevin Slusher, Lynchburg, Todd Krantz, Huddleston, Crystal Ashby, Roanoke,
Robin, Michelle and Traci Mathews, Houston, Texas; two great-grandchildren,
Dennis Wayne Slusher, Lynchburg, Cassandra Ashby, Roanoke; two brothers,
Woodrow Hamblett, Roanoke, James Hamblett, Colonial Heights; two sisters,
Katherine Speck, Penhook, Hazel Davis, South Boston. Funeral services will be
conducted from Oakey's Vinton Chapel at 1 p.m. Thursday, August 5, 1993, with
the Rev. Wayne Murphy officiating. Burial will be in Blue Ridge Memorial
Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the
American Cancer Society. Friends may call at Oakey's Vinton Chapel.
