TAKING NO ORDERS FROM YANKEES

I READ in the Roanoke Times & World-News that the Confederate flag could only be flown on certain days. What harm does the flag do? If we want to start banning things, why don't we ban the X hats. In my opinion, they show more racism than the Confederate flag.

If people would read their histroy, they would find that the Civil War was not fought over slavery, except for maybe about 5 percent. The war was fought over people getting tired of being told what to do by some Yankee! To this day, I still will not take orders from a Yankee.

Blacks fought for the South. They went to war freely.

But with this new president, who lets gay people march in Washington, who knows what we can expect from Washington? They may ban a piece of nylon from flying over Virginia and the whole South, but they'll never ban it from my heart.
