TRIO AWARDED GRANT

The Kandinsky Trio, artists-in-residence at Roanoke College, has received a 1993-94 Chamber Music America Residence Matching Grant of $15,000. The Trio is one of five piano trios in the nation to receive this honor, and is the only chamber music ensemble originating in Virginia ever to win the award.

A number of community events will be offered through their residency, including a middle-school string program, free lecture and demonstrations, benefit concerts and amateur chamber music workshops.

The Trio was founded in 1987. Members are Elizabeth Bachelder, piano; Benedict Goodfriend, violin; and Alan Weinstein, cello.
